Nearly Natural vs Artiplanto: An Honest Comparison for Canadian Buyers

If you search for artificial olive trees from Canada, two brand names come up more than any others: Nearly Natural and Artiplanto. One is a large American company with a catalogue that spans multiple marketplaces; the other is a Canadian online brand with a big search footprint. We sell artificial trees ourselves, so we are not a neutral referee — but nobody in this category publishes a straight brand-to-brand comparison, so here is ours. Every competitor fact below was checked on 28 August 2026 and quoted as displayed at the source.

Who is Nearly Natural?

Nearly Natural is a US artificial plant company with real history behind it. Their About Us page states: "Our experience dates back over 75 years to the patriarch of the Nearly Natural family, Henry Friedmen," and describes the company as "the first artificial floral company to hire head designers with years of experience in the live plant industry." Beyond their own Shopify-based site, they run branded storefronts on Wayfair, Walmart and Amazon.

Their faux olive tree collection alone showed at least 14 distinct olive-tree models on first load when we checked, with a "Load More" control indicating the full range is larger. That depth of range is genuinely hard to match.

What do Nearly Natural's olive trees cost?

All prices here are USD, as displayed on nearlynatural.com on 28 August 2026. At the bottom of the range, a 3 ft artificial olive tree with a natural trunk was on sale for $27.99 USD (regular $49.99 USD). An 8 ft artificial olive tree was $251.99 USD. At the top, a 13 ft giant artificial olive tree was $1,007.99 USD. The collection page filled in the middle: a 5 ft olive silk tree at $139.99, a 6 ft olive at $120.99 (was $192.99), a 6 ft black olive silk tree at $307.99.

That sub-$30 USD price floor for a small tree is lower than anything we sell, and lower than anything we found at the Canadian specialists. Credit where due: if you want a small, inexpensive accent tree and you live in the United States, Nearly Natural is very hard to beat on price and choice.

One gap worth knowing about: none of the product pages we checked states what the trees are actually made of. Descriptions say "crafted from high-quality materials" without naming a fabric or plastic. Does Nearly Natural ship to Canada?

No. This is the fact that settles the comparison for most Canadian readers. Nearly Natural's own shipping information page states: "We ship to the 48 contiguous United States. At the moment, we do not ship to P.O Boxes." No Canadian or international option is offered. Their return policy narrows things further: returns are valid only "for orders shipped within continental USA and purchased directly from nearlynatural.com."

A Canadian buyer could route an order through a US freight forwarder, but you would be paying forwarding fees and duty on a large, awkward box, and you would give up the return policy entirely. What is happening with Artiplanto?

Artiplanto is the opposite case: a brand that markets to Canadians — one Trustpilot reviewer writes, "I live in Canada…the same country the company operates from" — and that still holds real search visibility. As of 28 August 2026, an Artiplanto product page ranked on page one of Google for "artificial olive tree canada".

But when we tried to load the store on 28 August 2026, we could not. The homepage, the products page and a product URL each returned an HTTP 423 ("Locked") error to our fetch tool. Because the storefront would not load, we could not retrieve any products, prices or policies to compare. We do not know why the site was returning errors — stores go down for many reasons, including maintenance and platform issues — and we will not speculate.

What we can report is the public review record. As of 28 August 2026, Artiplanto's Trustpilot listing shows a TrustScore of 1.4 out of 5 from 287 reviews, with roughly 62% of reviewers giving one star and 26% giving five. Recent reviewers on Trustpilot report delivery problems: a reviewer writing on 27 February 2026 said an order placed 8 February had not "entered the shipping stream" nearly three weeks later; a 13 February 2026 review reads, "THREE MONTHS (3) later, I still have not received my items, nor a refund"; a December 2025 reviewer said an October order "finally arrived after multiple followups." Several of these reviewers are tagged with a Canadian location.

Three practical conclusions fall out of the facts above.

First, Nearly Natural direct is simply not an option from Canada. If you are in the US, or you are comfortable arranging a freight forwarder and absorbing the loss of the return policy, they are a legitimate, long-established company with a deep catalogue and a low entry price.

Second, before ordering from Artiplanto — or from any online store, ours included — spend two minutes on a basic check: does the site load right now; do recent reviews, sorted by newest, describe orders arriving; is there a working contact channel. A store's status can change week to week — the observations in this article are dated for exactly that reason.

Third, compare on the landed CAD price, not the sticker price. A USD figure plus forwarding, duty and currency conversion often lands well above a Canadian retailer's CAD price for a comparable tree.
