Why does the frond count matter?

Because it tells you the density before you buy, which no photograph reliably does. Two palms of the same height can look completely different at 11 fronds and 21. If the tree is going in a corner where only one side shows, a lower count is fine; in the middle of a room, buy the fuller one.

What kind of pot does it come in?

A pot is supplied with every size, so the tree stands on its own out of the box. Most specifiers still drop the whole thing into a decorative planter - the included pot is there to make it stable and self-supporting, not to be the finished look.
