Olive is the clearest case in our range for buying artificial. It is a full-sun Mediterranean species, and a Canadian interior does not supply that light for half the year regardless of how good the window is.

What arrives in the box, and what do I have to do to it?

Every tree on this site ships compressed. The branches are folded in against the trunk so the box survives transit, and it will come out of that box looking flatter and thinner than the photographs. Opening it out by hand is not an optional finishing touch — it is the difference between a tree that reads as real and one that reads as a prop. Work from the lowest branches upward, pull each stem away from its neighbour, and give the leaves individual angles rather than a uniform fan.

Olive branches are fine and the leaves small, so an olive tree takes longer to fluff convincingly than a broad-leaf tree of the same height; work the inner branches before the outer ones or the canopy looks hollow from the side. Inspect the pot and the trunk when your delivery arrives, and photograph any transit damage before you unpack further so we can put it right quickly.

Polyethylene, or PE — one of the two common leaf materials in this category, alongside silk. It tends to hold a slightly glossier finish than silk but is generally easier to wipe clean. The branch wire is stainless steel, which keeps its shape well once the tree is set.

Can I put this outside?

This tree is best suited to indoor spaces — living rooms, offices, hotels and similar settings. At most, use it on a covered porch out of direct sun. For an uncovered outdoor spot, choose a UV-rated model from our range instead.

How do I clean it?

A quick wipe with a cloth once a month keeps the tree looking vibrant — a damp microfibre cloth, leaf by leaf, working more often in a kitchen where cooking grease settles in the air. Avoid furniture polish or anything silicone-based, since it adds back a glossy sheen that undoes the point of a matte PE leaf finish.
