It is a ship-to-you retailer with deep roots: its own pages give two founding dates — 1979 on the homepage (for parent company Dr. Plant Tropical Foliage Corporation, started in Saskatoon) and 1992 on the About Us page for SilkPlantsCanada.com itself. Either way, it is one of the longest-established artificial plant sellers in the country, and offers custom-made trees from 3 to 12 feet.

Waysaving (waysaving.com) has something Silk Plants Canada does not advertise: a physical showroom and wholesale location at 6705 Tomken Rd Unit 1, Mississauga, ON, open Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm. Free local pickup is available from the same warehouse, and Waysaving also runs an event-rental business — its homepage was advertising 2026–2027 tree rentals when we checked — so keep the purchase and rental policies straight.

How do their olive tree prices compare?

Waysaving's pricing is straightforwardly in CAD. As displayed on 28 August 2026: a 6 ft artificial olive tree at $230.00 on sale (regular $299.00), a 7 ft at $260.00 (regular $350.00), an 8 ft at $600.00 (regular $899.00) and a 10 ft at $800.00 (regular $1,200.00). Recorded as observed: the 6 ft page showed "Sold Out" in one place while stating "in stock, ready to ship" elsewhere on the page.

Silk Plants Canada needs a currency caveat: the site has a CAD/USD switcher, and what you see depends on your session. When we fetched their 80 inch silk olive tree on natural wood, the price displayed as $366.77 on sale (regular $476.81) in USD; their 28 inch mini olive showed $66.01 (regular $73.35), also captured in USD. The same day, their homepage showed other products in CAD (a 5 ft traveler palm at $199.99 CAD). Confirm which currency you are looking at before comparing — on a $400 tree the difference is material.

On materials the two are close: Waysaving describes "silk-blended leaves" with internally wired branches; Silk Plants Canada's spec table lists "silk foliage, natural wood trunk." Both supply nursery-style pots; Waysaving sells the decorative pot separately.

What about shipping?

Silk Plants Canada ships within Canada only ("International shipping is not available unless stated on specific products"). Delivery is estimated at 3–10 business days after shipment, with 2–5 business days of processing before that, and rates are calculated at checkout by size, weight and destination. Large items may go by freight with curbside delivery only. No free-shipping threshold is stated on the policy page.

Waysaving ships to Canada and the USA — "All goods are shipped from Canada" — but its shipping policy page is minimal: it covers US customs disclaimers and publishes no shipping cost figures, no free-shipping threshold and no delivery-time estimates. The offset is free pickup at the Mississauga warehouse, which for GTA buyers removes shipping cost and transit risk.

How do the return policies differ?

Both use a 7-day window — short by e-commerce standards — so read carefully.

Silk Plants Canada: eligible Canadian orders can be returned when a request is made within 7 days of receiving the order, with the shipment sent within 7 days of receiving the return authorisation. Merchandise must be unused, in original condition and packaging. Original shipping charges are non-refundable and the customer pays return shipping. Custom-made and special-order products are non-returnable. On restocking fees there is a discrepancy we recorded as observed: their refund policy page says there is no restocking fee on approved returns, while their 28 inch olive tree product page states a "20% restocking fee applies to refunds." Worth confirming in writing before ordering.

Waysaving: 7 days from delivery, item unused, in original packaging, with proof of purchase. A flat $20 CAD restocking fee applies to standard returns, the customer pays return shipping, and original shipping charges are non-refundable. In-store purchases are exchange-only, and USA orders cannot be returned or exchanged at all. Damage must be reported within 3 days of delivery, with photos.

What do their reviews look like?

Both use Judge.me, the review app embedded in their storefronts. As of 28 August 2026, Silk Plants Canada showed 4.3 out of 5 stars from 261 reviews; Waysaving showed 5.0 out of 5 from 91 reviews. Silk Plants Canada has nearly three times the review base; Waysaving's is smaller but spotless so far. Silk Plants Canada's olive tree pages carry a structured specification table — brand, height, material, colour, indoor use, care — a genuinely good practice more sellers should copy. Its 28 inch page also has an on-page FAQ. The pages we fetched did carry urgency banners ("Only 6 left in stock," "2 sold in last 8 hours"). Waysaving's pages use bullet-point "Key Specifications" and descriptive text rather than a formal table — the material information is there, but you do more reading to assemble it.
