What does the 50 mm pile change?

Depth and shadow. A 50 mm blade lies over its neighbours and hides the backing completely, so a run reads as a hedge from any angle rather than only head-on. It is also more forgiving of a slightly uneven fence behind it.

How much does one panel cover?

Can this go outside?
