What is the trunk made of?

Fiberglass, moulded and finished in the silver-white bark that gives birch its name. Fiberglass takes a papery, peeling surface texture that painted steel cannot, which matters when the trunk is the feature you are buying.

How tall is it, really?

10.8 ft, or 3.3 m, in one fixed size. That suits a hotel lobby, a restaurant with a mezzanine or a covered courtyard; in a standard-ceilinged room the canopy would be pressed flat against the plaster.

Where does this work best?

In groups, and against a contrasting background. Real birch grows in stands, and three or five of these clustered in a bed reproduce that effect far better than a single tree - which is how they are most often used in retail and courtyard schemes.
