Where does this work best?

Indoors, under something. The whole character of a wisteria is the drop of the flower trails, so it earns its keep beneath a skylight, in a stairwell void or over a seating area where guests look up into the canopy. Against a flat wall you lose half of what you paid for.

Will it look real up close?

The cascade reads convincingly because gravity does the work - hanging blooms fall into natural irregularity in a way that upright foliage never does. Close inspection shows the fabric petals. From below and at distance, which is how wisteria is always seen, it is genuinely hard to fault.

Does it need any maintenance?

Almost none. Hanging racemes gather less dust than flat foliage, so an occasional shake and a light dusting keeps it right. Separate any trails that have tangled in transit - untangled, they hang straight and the tree looks twice as good.
