Will the colour fade in sunlight?

Red pigments fade faster than greens under UV, and this tree is specified for indoor use. In a south-facing window display, rotate the tree every few months so one side does not lighten while the other stays saturated. That single habit does more for its lifespan than anything else.

How tall is it, really?

Six heights: 3.9 ft (1.2 m), 4.9 ft (1.5 m), 5.9 ft (1.8 m), 6.6 ft (2.0 m), 7.2 ft (2.2 m) and 8.2 ft (2.5 m). The 1.5 m and 1.8 m sizes suit a stair landing; 2.5 m needs a double-height window to sit under.

Where does this work best?

Against a pale wall. Red foliage disappears against timber, brick or warm stone, and sings against white, grey or glass. Get the background right and this is one of the most photographed pieces in a scheme; get it wrong and it reads as brown.
