This is a 10 ft (3 m) artificial olive tree on a natural wood trunk, with silver-green foliage layered along open branches. Three metres is lobby scale rather than living-room scale, which is why it turns up most often in hotels, restaurant dining rooms and double-height residential corners.

Where does this work best?

Anywhere with about 12 ft (3.6 m) of clear ceiling and a floor position it can own. Reception desks, the turn of a staircase and the dead corner of a dining room all suit it, because an olive canopy is open enough to read as a screen without blocking the room.

Does it need any maintenance?

Dust the leaves every few months and that is the whole routine. No watering, no feeding, no dropped leaves, and no light requirement - which is the practical reason people specify a faux olive for a windowless lobby in the first place.

Will it look real up close?

From a few metres away it reads as a real olive, helped by the genuine wood trunk. Standing at arm's length you will be able to tell the leaves are artificial. We would rather say that plainly than promise something the product cannot do.
