What is the trunk made of?
Fibreglass, moulded with bark texture and weathered grain. With no leaves to look at, the trunk is the entire product, so the surface finish carries all of the realism - which is why a moulded fibreglass trunk is worth paying for here in a way it might not be under a dense canopy.
Where does this work best?
Anywhere you want the shape of a tree rather than the greenery of one. It takes uplighting better than any foliage tree, because light passes through the branch structure and throws the shadow onto the ceiling.
